Faaker See in Blue

The beautiful Lake Faak after sunset. The lake lies in the Austrian state Carinthia. It is known for its clear turquoise water, although you won’t be able to see this in my photo. 🙂 During summertime, it is a great lake for swimming, fishing, etc. — http://ift.tt/1wJ2rcr by martinpodt

As Above So Below ~

Silver Lake, Utah… all the way up to the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon I go!!… I took a nice drive up the canyon anticipating capturing some wonderful autumn images, but there wasn’t much color left at all. Where did it all go?? However, I was quite pleased to capture some beautiful images of Silver Lake even with the extremely low water level; it was a breathtaking day by all means! As I arrived at the upmost top of the canyon and hiked around the lake, set up my gear and snapped a few shots; all of a sudden, and in an instant I saw a couple of gorgeous hawks soaring towards me… I got so excited that I almost fell into the lake, gear and all, and narrowly missed that awesome shot… still trying to forgive myself!! So, I decided to create very close to what I would have captured with the Red Tailed Hawk soaring right past me (the other took off above me) using an image I already have in my collection, hoping to re-created that wonderful scenery of that magical moment! I know it will never come close to the actual surreal event, but I had to try anyway! Thank you for stopping by and for taking the time to read my story!! Wishing everyone a beautiful week!!

“Stop for a repast under rocks”

“Stop for a repast under rocks”

The unique mountain inn, Aescher, located 1,454 meters a.s.l. is only 15 hiking minutes away from Ebenalp.

The aerial cableway whisks you from Wasserauen beyond Appenzell, to the Ebenalp mountain, and thus to one of the most beautiful areas of the Alpstein Range. On the vast high plateau defined by rich Alpine flora you will have amazing vistas of Appenzell, the hills skirting St. Gallen, the region around Lake Constance and the impressive panorama of the Alpstein mountain chain.

High up there are even more attractions: Amidst the southeast face of the Ebenalpstock Mountain are two caves under whose vaults a stone block house and chapel with a small spire are hidden: the Wildkirchli.
The caves are famous sites of prehistoric finds. An excellent mountain trail takes you there from the valley station. The walk to the caves takes only 15 minutes. The hike leads through the Wildkirchli Caves up to Wildkirchli and then to the Aescher Mountain Inn, whose image has been transmitted around the world: The house is nestled precariously in the giant rock vault and offers an unusual setting for events of all kinds.
