Partial Clouded Eclipse

Well this was as far as I could go into taking photos of the eclipse before the sun set behind the clouds.

You really would not believe me on how I captured this! I used a 70-300mm lens with a 2x teleconverter attached. I only have a 1.8 ND filter and it does not thread onto this lens. I took my macro hood, and some parchment paper and folded the paper and created a wedge to secure the ND filter into it. I then took the hood and secured it into the hood of the 70-300 lens and used electrical tape to cover the little bit of exposed holes on the hood. Amazing at what little tricks you think of quickly to capture a moment. I just wish those clouds held off until after the maximum effect of the eclipse. — http://ift.tt/1xgolAu by pkwicki
